Stella & Dot (old)

The e-commerce checkout flow being familiar to me from designing checkout experiences both Web and mobile for Creative Memories and Walmart, I thought it would not be much of a stretch to help Stella & Dot revamp their checkout flow.

That was – until I understood the use cases!

Stella & Dot is a social selling company offering boutique-style jewelry and accessories, available exclusively via in-home Trunk Shows facilitated by Independent Stylists and direct to consumers online. On the Stella & Dot shopping site, checkout needed to serve:

• brand new shoppers, checking out as a guest
• new shoppers, creating an account with Stella & Dot
• returning non-hostess customers who attended a Trunk Show but don't recall the name of either the hostess or the Independent Stylist, or they have one but not the other, or both
• hostesses, who could use hostess credits

Additionally shoppers could apply promo codes and/or accumulated store credits during checkout.

Working with Stella & Dot's in-house product management and design team, I produced a revised cart and checkout flow, in which a persistent order summary above the fold summarized all the relevant details of the order. From start to finish, this checkout project was accomplished in one month.
